Dog Trail in Steamboat Springs Trailhead is just beyond campground, on your right, you'll see the sign for Smith Lake trail #1194 Can be buggy, especially near the second pond, so bring sunscreen! This is a short, 0.7 mile hike that is scenic, and, in July, filled with wildflowers; continue along the trail past the ponds to the outflow of the lake on the right, and just past this you'll reach Smith Lake at the head of the valley; there's also a trail that goes around the lake |

Dog Trail in Steamboat Springs Trailhead: go straight through the gate and continue down dirt road, a small marker with the number 291 marks the trail to hike to Rabbit Ears Peak Old Jeep road, starts out gentle before going to a more moderate incline; wildflowers, nice view of Rabbit Ears Pass, most of the trail is open, use sunscreen; bring lots of water; the 3/4 marker of the hike is where it gets steeper, so take your time and enjoy the panoramic views, 1 way walking distance: 3 miles |
