A short 1/4-mile walk down a gravel path is a pristine view of the lower falls, while a moderate hike with picturesque views will take the more adventurous to Upper Fish Creek Falls and Long Lake, deep in the Routt National Forest.
In the springtime, Fish Creek Falls is at its roaring peak with snowmelt, while in late summer clear water cascades down the smooth rocks. In winter, ice-climbers take to the famous face; there’s no off-season at Fish Creek Falls
Trip Advisor Review: "We did the Fish Creek Falls hike with our kids, ages 8, 10 and 12. It's a very easy hike - more like a walk - on paved trails, and the falls are so beautiful. You can go down to the bottom and watch the falls, letting the mist cool you off on a hot day, and you can go up to the overlook to get a good view of them, as well. You can also cross the bridge at the bottom and take the unpaved trail to the top of the falls. This trail is much more difficult...it's steeper, unpaved and rocky. We did part of the trail and got some nice views, but you really do get a good experience if you stay on the paved trails."
